By a landslide the most popular silver coin in the world, the American Silver Eagle 1 ounce coins are the official bullion coin of the United States of America. In 1986, the US Mint began producing these coins in burnished, proof, and bullion versions. Local Silver Mint now offers these immensely popular coins to investors and collectors in randomly selected batches at any quantity.

Note: selection, including year issued, will vary according to Local Silver Mint inventory.

Coin Highlights:
• Now forty years old, the Silver Eagle is the official bullion coin of the USA!
• Most popular silver coin on the planet!
• One troy oz of .999 pure silver.
• Bears a face value of $1 US Dollar, backed by the federal government.
• Obverse design from Adolph A. Weinman.
• Reverse design by John Mercanti or Emily Damstra.
• Random years of issuance; may contain multiples from same year.
• Uncirculated condition. May include toning or contact marks.

All American Silver Eagle coins sold by Local Silver Mint meet or exceed the acceptable standards of the PCGS and NGC for uncirculated coins.

These coins were authorized by Congress through the Liberty Coin Act. Since 1986, the Silver Eagle coins have been produced in US Mints including, first, the San Francisco Mint, then out of Philadelphia Mint during the 1990s, and, since 2001, has been struck at the West Point Mint.

The American Silver Eagle obverse is Adolph A. Weinman’s historic Walking Liberty design. Created in 1916 and originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the design was modernized and refined for use on the American Silver Eagle 70 years later.

Its reverse features the heraldic eagle of the United States, which was created by former-Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, John Mercanti. It features an American bald eagle with a heraldic shield in front of it, with arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Some American Eagles produced in 2021 are “Type 2,” with a reverse designed by Emily Damstra – an eagle clutching an oak branch in full flight.

Silver Eagle coins remain wildly popular and valuable, particularly since the resurgence in precious metals diversification driven by the 2008 recession. For those looking to stack something both traditional and valuable, the American Silver Eagle is top tier.
